2 Murders Reported Within Hours in Delhi; Police Arrest 3 in First Case
New Delhi, April 22, 2025 — In a chilling sequence of events, two separate murders were reported within a few hours of each other in the national capital on Monday night, sending shockwaves through the city. Delhi Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the first incident, while an investigation into the second is ongoing.
According to officials, the first murder occurred in the Rohini area around 8:30 PM. A 28-year-old man, identified as Rohit Mehra, was allegedly stabbed to death during a heated argument involving a group of local men. Witnesses alerted authorities, and a swift operation led to the arrest of three individuals: Vikram Singh (32), Jatin Verma (27), and Rahul Tomar (30). Police believe the murder may have stemmed from a personal dispute.
"The victim had a history of altercations with the accused. We're looking into whether this was premeditated or a spontaneous act of violence," said DCP (Outer North), Dr. Harshita Mishra.
Just hours later, around 11:15 PM, another murder was reported in the Okhla area of South Delhi. A 35-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment with multiple stab wounds. Neighbors reported hearing loud noises moments before the discovery. Police have yet to identify the suspect in this case.
The double homicide in a single night has raised concerns about the rising crime rate in the city. Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has directed for a “comprehensive review” of patrolling measures and has assured the public of prompt action in both cases.
