On July 26, 2025, a senior Army officer assaulted four SpiceJet ground staff members at the boarding gate of flight SG-386 from Srinagar to Delhi. The violent confrontation erupted after staff informed the officer that his cabin baggage exceeded the allowed limit.

The officer was carrying two pieces of cabin luggage weighing a total of 16 kg, more than double SpiceJet’s permissible 7 kg limit.

When politely requested to pay applicable charges for the excess baggage, the officer refused and forcibly entered the aerobridge without completing boarding formalities, violating aviation security protocols.

CISF personnel intervened and escorted him back to the gate.

At the gate, the officer grew increasingly aggressive, physically assaulting four SpiceJet employees with punches, repeated kicks, and a queue stand, a metal pole used for forming lines.

One staff member collapsed unconscious on the floor but was repeatedly kicked. Another suffered a bleeding nose and mouth due to a forceful kick to the jaw.

Serious injuries reported include a spinal fracture and severe trauma to the jaw.

The injured employees were rushed to hospital and are undergoing treatment.

SpiceJet has registered a First Information Report (FIR) with the local police and labeled the attack as a "murderous assault."
