Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced a temporary suspension of services on a section of the Purple Line this Sunday, June 23, 2025, due to scheduled maintenance work. The services between MG Road and Baiyappanahalli will not be available from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, affecting early morning commuters.
According to a statement by BMRCL, the temporary shutdown is necessary to facilitate track inspection and system maintenance between the Halasuru and Trinity metro stations. The two-hour window has been chosen to minimize inconvenience and ensure safe and efficient operations in the long term.
“The maintenance work is essential for ensuring the continued safety and reliability of our infrastructure. We request passengers to plan their travel accordingly and regret the inconvenience,” said a BMRCL spokesperson.
What Will Be Affected?
Purple Line operations between MG Road and Baiyappanahalli will be temporarily halted.
Other stretches of the Purple Line—Challaghatta to MG Road and Baiyappanahalli to Kadugodi—will remain operational as usual.
Green Line services will remain completely unaffected.
Passenger Advisory:
Commuters using the affected stretch are advised to prepone or postpone their travel.
Feeder buses, autos, and app-based cabs are expected to see increased demand in the curtailed window.
This is not the first time BMRCL has opted for partial curtailment during early hours to conduct essential maintenance. Officials say these checks are vital as ridership continues to rise post-COVID and with the metro’s growing reach across the city.
Bengaluru Metro's Purple Line, which spans from Challaghatta in the west to Kadugodi in the east, is one of the city's busiest corridors, serving thousands of passengers daily.
When Will Services Resume?
BMRCL confirmed that normal operations on the affected section will resume promptly at 9:00 AM on the same day, ensuring that most of the day’s services go uninterrupted.
