Bengaluru Road Rage Case: Karnataka HC Directs Police Not to Arrest IAF Officer, Urges Cooperation
In a significant development in the Bengaluru road rage incident, the Karnataka High Court on Friday directed the police not to arrest the Indian Air Force (IAF) officer allegedly involved. The court also instructed the officer to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
The case pertains to an altercation that reportedly escalated into physical assault on a busy Bengaluru street. Following a petition filed by the officer seeking protection from arrest, the High Court issued an interim order shielding him from immediate custodial action.
The court emphasized that while the officer must not be arrested during the investigation stage, he is expected to participate actively and assist law enforcement authorities in reaching a fair conclusion. The police have been tasked with conducting the probe impartially, without undue influence.
The next hearing is scheduled for a later date, by when the police are expected to update the court on the progress of the investigation.
This case has drawn significant public attention, especially given the involvement of a defense personnel in a civilian altercation. Authorities have urged the public and media to allow the legal process to unfold without prejudgment.
