Bengaluru — In a deeply disturbing case that has shocked the city, a woman has been sentenced to life imprisonment for killing her teenage daughter over a dispute related to exam results. The incident, which took place in the Shastrinagar area of Banashankari, unfolded after the daughter allegedly lied about her academic performance in the Pre-University (PU) exams.
According to reports, the mother, identified as Padmaja, 60, attacked her 19-year-old daughter Sahitya during a heated argument. Investigations revealed that Sahitya had failed in five subjects and tried to hide the truth from her mother. Upon discovering the lie, an enraged Padmaja stabbed her daughter multiple times. Both sustained injuries during the altercation, but Sahitya later succumbed to her wounds.
The police arrested Padmaja shortly after the incident, and she was treated for injuries before being moved to judicial custody. After months of investigation and legal proceedings, the court has now handed her a life sentence, citing the brutal nature of the crime and the breach of parental responsibility.
