"Black Day In Pakistan Cricket": 'Money-Hungry' Players Ripped Apart In Ex-Star's Rant

Pakistan cricket faced a wave of backlash after their shocking defeat to the USA in the T20 World Cup, a result that has stunned fans and pundits alike. Former players and analysts did not hold back, calling it a "black day" in the nation’s cricket history.

Among the most vocal critics was legendary pacer Wasim Akram, who lambasted the team’s attitude and preparation. “They underestimated the USA. There was no intensity, no intent. It was pathetic,” Akram said during a post-match discussion. His words echoed the sentiment of a nation bewildered by the defeat.

Adding fuel to the fire, other ex-players accused the team of being more focused on money than performance. “These players have become money-hungry. Their priorities are all wrong,” one former cricketer ranted on a popular sports show, citing recent franchise league commitments as a major distraction.

Younis Khan also criticized the team's tactical blunders, particularly during the Super Over. He emphasized the importance of playing with a do-or-die mindset, especially in global tournaments. “There’s no excuse for such a loss. It’s not just about skill—it’s about pride and fight, both of which were missing,” he said.

Cricket analyst Omair Alavi echoed these sentiments, questioning the passion and mental toughness of the squad. “This isn’t just about one bad game. There’s been a pattern—losses to Zimbabwe, Ireland, and now the USA. This shows something deeper is wrong.”

The decision to return to the Babar Azam–Mohammad Rizwan opening combo also came under fire. Former skipper and coach Mohammad Hafeez criticized the move, saying it demonstrated a lack of innovation and progress in Pakistan's approach to T20 cricket.

The result has not only damaged Pakistan’s campaign in the T20 World Cup but also sparked fresh concerns over internal team politics, biased selections, and a need for urgent structural reforms.

As fans vent their frustration and experts demand accountability, the team now faces mounting pressure to turn things around in their remaining matches—or risk a humiliating early exit from the tournament.
