Tragedy struck in Indonesia as a Brazilian hiker was found dead four days after falling from the steep slopes of Mount Marapi, one of the most active volcanoes in the country. The 22-year-old tourist had been reported missing after a solo trek on the volcano, located in West Sumatra.

According to local authorities, the hiker slipped and fell into a deep ravine on June 20 during a descent from the volcano. Harsh terrain, poor visibility, and unpredictable weather conditions delayed rescue efforts.

“The area is extremely rugged, and volcanic activity further complicated the search operation,” said a member of the rescue team.

The body was finally located on June 24 and airlifted via helicopter due to the inaccessibility of the area.
