Chhattisgarh Encounter: 16 Maoists Killed, 2 Jawans Injured in Sukma Operation

The encounter took place during a joint operation carried out by the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the forces launched a coordinated offensive in the Jagargunda area of Sukma, a known Maoist stronghold.
According to security officials, the gunfight erupted early in the morning when Maoist insurgents opened fire on the advancing forces. The exchange of fire lasted several hours before the Maoists retreated, leaving behind bodies of 16 cadres along with a cache of arms and ammunition.
Injured Jawans in Stable Condition
Two security personnel sustained injuries during the operation. They were swiftly evacuated and are currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. Authorities have confirmed that their condition is stable.
Amit Shah's Statement
Union Home Minister Amit Shah responded to the incident, emphasizing that "violence and weapons cannot bring change." He lauded the bravery and dedication of the security forces, reaffirming the government's commitment to eliminating Maoist insurgency from affected regions.
"Maoists must understand that the path of violence will only bring destruction. The government's development agenda will continue to uplift marginalized communities in these regions," Shah added.
