Himachal Pradesh faced nature’s fury once again as multiple cloudbursts triggered landslides in the Mandi district, resulting in at least 1 confirmed death and several people reported missing. Continuous heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has caused widespread damage to property, roads, and basic infrastructure.

🗺️ Mandi District Worst-Hit

According to local authorities, villages in the Sarkaghat and Gohar regions of Mandi district were severely affected. Torrents of water mixed with debris swept through hamlets, trapping residents and damaging houses and vehicles.

NDRF, SDRF, and Army personnel have been deployed for rescue operations

Helicopters on standby for airlifting stranded individuals

Many roads, including parts of the Chandigarh-Manali Highway, have been closed due to landslides

Schools and colleges shut in several districts as a precaution

Deputy Commissioner, Mandi:
“Rescue teams are working in extremely difficult conditions. People are advised to stay indoors and avoid hilly areas.”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, and Kinnaur over the next 48 hours.
