Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, renowned astrophysicist and former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), passed away on April 25, 2025, in Bengaluru at the age of 84. His death marks the end of an era for India's space program and educational reforms.

Dr. Kasturirangan served as the Chairman of ISRO from 1994 to 2003. Under his leadership, ISRO achieved significant milestones, including the development and successful launch of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV). He also played a pivotal role in the development of remote sensing satellites like IRS-1A and IRS-1B, and communication satellites such as INSAT-2 .
