An encounter between security forces and suspected militants broke out early Friday morning in the Aragam area of Bandipora district in North Kashmir. The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of armed militants in the region.
A joint team of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF cordoned off the area and began a search operation, which quickly escalated into a gunfight after militants opened fire.
Local sources report intermittent firing, and authorities have sealed off all entry and exit points in the area to prevent any escape attempts. Additional forces have been deployed to prevent any law and order issues, and civilians have been urged to stay indoors.
As of now, no casualties have been officially confirmed, and the operation remains ongoing.
