Has Google Meet Outage Been Fixed? Two Hours On, Many Still Unable to Join ‘Important Meetings’

What Happened?

On Wednesday, 26 November 2025, Google Meet reportedly suffered a widespread outage across India. The disruption began around 11:00 AM IST, with the number of problem reports surging rapidly.

Many users trying to join scheduled meetings — whether for work, classes, or important appointments — encountered error messages such as “502, that’s an error” or were simply unable to load the meeting page.

According to outage-tracking platform DownDetector, over 1,500–1,600 reports flooded in from across India within a short time.

Is the Outage Fixed?

As of early afternoon (around 1:10 PM IST), many users continued to report issues. The outage was not yet fully resolved, and the platform remained partially inaccessible for a large number of users.

While some people managed to access meetings via alternate methods, the general consensus among user reports was that problems still persisted.

No official public statement from Google confirming full restoration has been released yet.

What Users Are Experiencing

Many users see a blank screen or continuous loading spinner when they click “Join meeting.”

Others get a “502. That’s an error” message — a server-side “Bad Gateway” error indicating something went wrong on Google’s end.

According to reported statistics: about 66% of complaints point to website-loading issues, 32% to server-connection problems, and approximately 1% to video quality issues.

Some users noticed that within their organization, some team members could access the meetings while others could not — indicating that the outage’s impact may vary by region, network, or user-type.

Possible Workarounds (Temporary Solutions)

A few people reported success by opening the meeting link in a private/incognito window of Chrome.

Others switched to the mobile app of Google Meet — in some cases that allowed them to join when the web version failed.

If you have an urgent meeting, you might consider alternative video-conferencing platforms — at least until the outage is confirmed resolved.

 (FAQ)

Q: Has Google officially confirmed the outage?
A: As of now, there is no public confirmation from Google. Users continue to report issues, and outage-tracking platforms show elevated error rates.

Q: Is the issue affecting mobile app users too?
A: Reports suggest the outage is mostly affecting the web version of Google Meet. Some mobile-app users appear to still connect successfully.

Q: What does “502, that’s an error” mean?
A: A 502 Bad Gateway error typically indicates a problem with the server or gateway — in this case, likely on Google’s side — preventing the request from completing.

Q: Is there a workaround to join meetings now?
A: Some users suggest using a browser’s incognito/private mode — or switching to the mobile app — as temporary workarounds.

Q: When is Google Meet expected to be fully restored?
A: No ETA has been provided yet. It depends on when Google’s engineering team identifies and resolves the root cause. Keep checking for updates on official status dashboards or news outlets.
