India Launches e-Passport: How to Apply, Eligibility, and Key Benefits
India has officially rolled out e-Passports in 2025, introducing a new era of secure and digitally enhanced travel documentation. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that the e-Passport will include embedded electronic chips to streamline verification, increase protection against fraud, and align India with global travel technology standards.

Visit the official Passport Seva Portal and register with your email ID and mobile number.
Step 2: Fill the e-Passport Application Form
Login and choose ‘Apply for Fresh Passport / Reissue’. Fill in accurate personal and contact details.
Step 3: Upload Supporting Documents
Required documents include:
Aadhaar Card
PAN Card
Address proof (Electricity bill, Rent agreement, etc.)
Existing Passport (if reapplying)
Step 4: Schedule an Appointment
Choose a convenient Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) location and book an available slot.
