A landslide near Netala in Uttarkashi district brought traffic to a standstill on the Uttarkashi–Gangnani road for nearly three hours on Monday morning. The incident occurred after heavy overnight rainfall triggered loose debris and rocks to tumble down the hillside, blocking the main route connecting the pilgrimage and tourist areas in the region.

Time of Incident: Around 7:15 AM

Location: Netala, approximately 8 km from Uttarkashi town

Cause: Heavy rainfall leading to soil loosening and rockfall

Local police and Public Works Department (PWD) teams arrived quickly on the scene to divert traffic and begin clearance operations.

Impact on Traffic

Commuters, pilgrims, and goods carriers were stranded on both sides of the blockage.

Several tourists heading towards Gangnani hot springs and Gangotri faced delays.

Normal traffic resumed by around 10:30 AM after JCB machines cleared the debris.
