Vizzve Admin

Travel plans turned into a nightmare for hundreds of tourists as multiple landslides struck the Mandi-Manali highway in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday night. The sudden slides blocked the road in several areas, forcing travelers to spend the night in their vehicles amid heavy rain, debris, and falling rocks.

 Where Did the Landslides Occur?

According to local authorities, landslides were reported at:

Pandoh and Aut Tunnel areas

Near Kullu and Bajaura regions

Due to continuous rainfall, restoration work has been slow and risky. Heavy machinery has been deployed to clear boulders and mud.

 Tourist Vehicles Stranded

Tourists heading to or from Manali, Kullu, and Kasol were severely affected.

Some vehicles were trapped between two landslide points.

Many tourists shared videos on social media, seeking help.

Locals provided basic food and water to the stranded.

Rescue & Clearance Operations

Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are actively clearing the highway.

As of this morning, partial clearance was achieved near Aut, but further landslide warnings persist.

The district administration has advised all travelers to postpone non-essential journeys.

 Weather Warning

IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh for the next 48 hours.

There is a high risk of more landslides and flash floods in the region.
