Tensions continue to escalate along the Line of Control (LoC) as the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked firing for the second time in two days, even as India reels from the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.
According to official sources, Pakistani troops opened fire at multiple forward Indian positions early this morning in the Krishna Ghati and Poonch sectors. The Indian Army responded strongly and effectively to the ceasefire violations. There have been no reports of major injuries on the Indian side so far, but the situation remains tense.
The latest firing comes amid heightened alert in Jammu and Kashmir following the deadly terror attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Pahalgam, which left several dead and many injured. Security agencies suspect cross-border terror groups to be behind the Pahalgam ambush, and intelligence inputs suggest possible attempts to escalate violence along the border regions.
"Pakistan's repeated provocations are a clear attempt to create unrest and divert attention from their own internal issues," a senior defense official stated, adding that Indian forces are maintaining a high state of alert across all sensitive sectors.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army has increased troop deployment and surveillance along vulnerable stretches of the LoC. Drones, sniffer dogs, and additional paramilitary forces have also been mobilized to prevent any further infiltration attempts.
Home Minister and top defense officials are in constant touch with security forces operating on the ground, reviewing the situation on an hourly basis. A high-level security meeting is expected later today to assess the emerging threats.
Civilians living near the LoC have been advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary movement. Emergency response teams have been kept ready in case of further escalations.
