A Pune-based defence employee has been arrested for allegedly swindling Rs 43 lakh from multiple job seekers by promising them employment in an ordnance factory. The accused, who worked in a government defense establishment, lured victims with false promises of securing them jobs within the ordnance factory in exchange for large sums of money.The scam came to light after several individuals reported being duped by the accused. Victims claimed that they were assured job placements in the ordnance factory, a crucial arm of India's defence production system, but never received the promised positions despite paying significant amounts to the fraudster.
The accused reportedly used his position to build trust among the victims, many of whom were job aspirants from various parts of the city, hoping to secure a stable government job. He allegedly collected large sums, ranging from a few lakhs to a significant amount, under the pretext of processing job applications, bribes, or other fees associated with the hiring process.
Upon investigation, police arrested the accused, who is now facing multiple charges, including fraud and breach of trust. Authorities have seized documents and financial records linked to the scam and are expanding the investigation to identify any other individuals or groups involved in this fraudulent activity.
