Search Continues for 75 Missing in Himachal Pradesh Flash Floods

Himachal Pradesh is reeling from another tragic wave of flash floods triggered by intense monsoon rainfall.
As of now, 75 people are reported missing, and search-and-rescue operations are underway in full force.

Districts like Mandi, Kullu, and Lahaul-Spiti have been hit hard. Rivers have overflowed, homes have collapsed, and key bridges and roads have been swept away by gushing waters.

 Areas Affected

Kullu: Several villages are cut off due to washed-away roads.

Mandi: Heavy landslides and damage to the Chandigarh-Manali highway.

Shimla: Floodwaters have entered low-lying urban areas.

Lahaul-Spiti: Cold desert region facing flash floods for the second year in a row.

Rescue efforts are being carried out by:

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF)

Indian Army and Air Force

Local police and fire services

State disaster response units and volunteers

Helicopters and drones deployed for aerial surveillance

Rescue teams using rafts and boats in water-logged areas

Evacuations underway for more than 8,000 people
