Tripura CM Manik Saha Raises Alarm Over Low TET Pass Rates, Affirms “No Irregularities” in Question Papers

Vizzve Admin

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has raised concerns over the extremely low pass percentage in the recently announced Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) results for 2025, while also firmly denying any irregularities in the exam process.

According to official data, only 5.56% of candidates passed TET-I, while a mere 4.92% cleared TET-II. The tests were conducted by the Tripura Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRBT). Saha, who also holds the Education portfolio, called these numbers “worrying” and stressed the need for a serious review of the factors leading to such poor performance.

“If we can’t produce qualified teachers, how will we ensure quality education for our children?” he stated.

Addressing the ongoing protests by unsuccessful candidates, the Chief Minister clarified that no errors or discrepancies were found in the question papers or answer keys. However, he acknowledged the students’ concerns and advised them to approach the courts if they believe there has been an injustice.

The state government is now expected to hold consultations with TRBT and education experts to analyze the reasons behind the dismal results and take corrective measures, including strengthening teacher training, improving exam standards, and reviewing evaluation methods.
