Udhayanidhi Stalin Slams Vijay’s TVK and AIADMK in Fiery Speech
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin launched a scathing attack on actor Vijay’s political outfit Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and the AIADMK, saying both lack direction and courage. Speaking at a public event, the DMK leader claimed that TVK was a “party without ideological foundation,” comparing it to a “cardboard monument built for the cameras.”
He further accused AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) of “misleading his cadres” and “running the party on fear rather than leadership.” Udhayanidhi’s remarks came as the Tamil Nadu political space heats up ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
‘TVK Built on Publicity, Not Purpose’
Udhayanidhi mocked Vijay’s new political venture, saying that the TVK’s rise was only due to media hype rather than real public connect.
“You can’t build a movement with cardboard monuments or dialogues. People want conviction, not cinema scripts,” he quipped.
The DMK youth leader argued that Tamil Nadu’s political history was shaped by ideology and welfare, not celebrity appeal.
‘AIADMK Driven by Fear, Misguided by EPS’
Turning his fire on the AIADMK, Udhayanidhi claimed the opposition party had become “directionless” after the demise of former CM J. Jayalalithaa.
“EPS is not leading the party — he’s scaring it. Every decision is taken out of fear of losing power,” he said.
He accused AIADMK leaders of prioritizing internal survival over people’s issues, adding that “the opposition’s energy is spent on maintaining their factions, not fighting for Tamil Nadu.”
Political Analysts React
Observers say Udhayanidhi’s attack is part of DMK’s strategy to position itself as the only stable, ideology-driven force in the state. With Vijay’s TVK expected to draw young voters, DMK leaders are keen to expose what they describe as “shallow populism.”
