Operation Keller: Key Highlights

Location & Timing

Operation Keller was executed in the Shoekal Keller area of Shopian district, approximately 80 kilometers from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation commenced on May 13, 2025, following specific intelligence inputs

 


Objective

The mission aimed to neutralize terrorists affiliated with the banned organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF), who were planning attacks in the region.




Execution

Based on intelligence from a Rashtriya Rifles unit, the Indian Army launched a search and destroy operation. During the encounter, terrorists opened heavy fire, leading to a fierce firefight. All three terrorists were eliminated.





Terrorists Neutralized

  • Shahid Kuttay: A top LeT commander and mastermind behind the Pahalgam attack. He was involved in multiple terror activities, including the murder of a BJP sarpanch in May 2024.

  • Adnan Shafi: Another identified LeT terrorist.

  • The identity of the third terrorist is yet to be confirmed.




Aftermath

A significant cache of weapons and ammunition, including rifles, bullets, and grenades, was recovered from the encounter site. This underscores the ongoing efforts by Indian security forces to combat terrorism and maintain peace in the region
